What You’re Looking For?
How to Select a Right Fiber Based on Application?
If you are looking to reinforce your concrete, you need to select macro synthetic fiber / steel fibers. Dosage depends on various design requirements.
if you wants to reduce shrinkage cracks & need better fire resistance , you need to add virgin polypropylene fibers at 2 kg /cum of concrete
Note : Generally we recommend a combination of PP fiber along with Macro / Steel fibers.
Is there any effect on workability of concrete?
Yes,The addition of fibers into concrete tends to reduce the slump of concrete. This reduction in slump is “evident,” it appears to suffer from a loss of workability or it appears very stiff. The concrete can actually become very fluid with the use of vibration. The addition of fiber increases the “fine aggregate” surface area in the concrete matrix, also the fibers can hold aggregate in place (reduce segregation) this combination contributes to the apparent slump loss.
A trial mix is always recommended. Slump should be adjusted with water-reducing admixture. Additional water should not be added to the mix since this can lower the compression strength of the concrete.
What are the advantages of using fibers in concrete?
In Fresh Concrete:
Reduce cracks in Early-Age concrete
Reduce segregation and improve mix cohesiveness
Reduce bleeding
Improves Impact & Abrasion Resistance
Resistant to freeze/thaw cycles
Improved fire rating
Corrosion Resistant & Alkali Resistant
Reduce shotcrete rebound
Cost & Time Saving
